Coconut Sunscreen Recipe

Too much sun exposure causes sunburn and it might increase the risk of skin cancer. Apart from the sunburn, it also causes premature aging such as fine lines or wrinkles. Coconut oil has natural sunscreen property. Coconut has lower level of SPF, ranging from 4-10. You can add zinc oxide to boost your sunscreen to more of a full spectrum sunscreen. Use high quality of zinc oxide and make sure it is un-coated and not micronized.

Ingredients that you will require:-

1/4 cup of Shea butter

1/4 cup of coconut oil

1/8 cup of sesame oil

1 tsp of red raspberry seed oil

20 drops of carrot seed oil

2 tsp beeswax

Few drops of essential oil of your choice such as lavender, peppermint or rosemary

1 tsp of zinc oxide (optional)

Procedure: РTake a double boiler pan and pour coconut oil, beeswax, sesame oil and Shea butter together. Melt it at low flame.  When beeswax has melted then removes the pan from the heat and let it to cool. If you want to use zinc oxide than whisk it at this point. Be careful use little amount of zinc oxide. Now put the mixture to the refrigerator for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes take the mixture out from the refrigerator and add raspberry oil, essential oil and carrot seed oil. Whipping it until the mixture is fluffy. Store it in a glass container and keep it in refrigerator.

Your homemade sunscreen is ready to use. Use it as any regular sunscreen.
